To be able to drive the golf ball straight with your golf driver from the tee box is really important, simply because it will set the tone for the whole hole you’re on. A superb golf driver swing may increase your probability to score a “Birdie” or perhapsalso can fall into a large mess when you slice the golf ball into the rough or simply out of bounds. Slicing the golf ball is generally a major problem with just about all levels of golf players, which range from an amateur to a professional. Slicing is determined by the particular kinematics of the shot. The spinning movement of the golf ball imparts a force that makes the golf ball to curve to right or left in midair creating slicing.
Although it is one of the main problems that a lot of golfers have, it is usually solved by consistent practice along with perfected techniques. Here are some tips that can be employed to prevent slicing while you take the all-important golf driver swing.
1. Griping The Golf Driver
Grip the golf club by placing your left thumb in line with the shaft of the club, and curl your other fingers around the shaft making sure that they are aiming toward your right eye. Grip the club solidly and once you hold the golf club into position, the 1st three knuckles on the left hand need to be visible. Your forefinger and thumb ought to produce a ‘V’ formation that is acute enough so your forefinger points to the right shoulder. This kind of golf club grip is called a strong golf grip, and it’s extremely important to have a strong golf grip and not a weak or a neutral grip to avoid slicing the golf ball.
2. The Angle Of The Backswing And Downswing
Ensure, when you take your stance, you maintain adequate distance in between the golf ball and your body so it does not hinder your backswing or downswing. If you ever avoid this, the backswing will be angled in or out from the target making the ball to spin while it’s in mid-air, thus resulting in a slice. Don’t forget, don’t turn your hips throughout the downswing, and always try to strike the ball down the target line. You can do this if the backswing and downswing keep to the target line. Furthermore, don’t forget that while taking your position, keep both of your shoulders parallel to the target line.
3. The Face Of The Golf Club Head
The face of the golf club head must be perpendicular to the target line. If it’s angled, the ball is going to swing to the right or left depending on the actual angle establishing a slice or a hook. So, it is recommended that the face is perpendicular to the target line when you are taking a golf driver swing.
4. Drills To Successfully Swing Down The Target Line
Put an additional golf club flat on the ground in a way that it coincides with the target line. Take several practice swings by simply attempting to swing the golf club in line above the horizontal club. Keep training up until you can do it consistently.
Place 4 balls in a manner that the four golf balls form a ‘X’ with the ball within the middle to be hit. The middle golf ball should be on the target line. Keep all the balls 2-3 inches away from the middle ball. At this point, try to strike the middle golf ball with out touching the other balls. If you successfully do so in a consistent manner, you’ll definitely overcome your slicing issue.
With consistent practice, slicing the golf ball will not be an issue anymore and you’ll be in the position to hit the golf ball straight and you will certainly possess a good golf driver swing to which will help you to shoot lower scores.
